Bridgette Horton

COO Chef Mumsie's Brands

Bridgette Horton, founder and COO of  Chef Mumsies’s Brands was born in Southern California, in the heart of Fresno where most of the fresh “Agriculture” items we consume come from. Her passion for cooking developed while watching her mother, grandmother, aunts, and even her uncle prepare food for family, friends, church members, and locals.


At the young age of 13, Bridgette catered her first culinary event for “Black History Month” in the City of Cerritos. Her teachers, who were not African American and didn’t understand her culture’s foods, took a chance and paid $5.00 per person to experience the unique flavors of Bridgette’s cuisine. This event inspired Bridgette to pursue a career in cooking, despite the lack of representation for young black girls in the industry.


Bridgette admired Julia Childs and a few others who had cooking shows during that time, but she felt that there was no hope for her to become more than just a cook in a kitchen. However, Bridgette’s dreams of becoming more than just a chef began to grow as she enjoyed entertaining guests and preparing special meals for them.


With her exceptional skills and talent, Bridgette had a way of turning a $50.00 food budget affair for six people into a $500.00 full restaurant experience with rave reviews.

After years of marriage, college, children, and life, Bridgette’s dreams came back to life when her granddaughter Alexandria called her “Mumsie.” This name inspired her to create a catering business with the name “Chef Mumsie.” Bridgette studied under one of the best chef names in Europe, Chef Escoffier, at the Escoffier Culinary School in Paris. As an Ambassador of Chef Escoffier of Paris and a member of the American Personal & Private Chef’s Association, Bridgette’s passion and skill for cooking continue to inspire others.
Bridgette has come a long way since her early days of cooking for her family and teachers. Today, she is a highly sought-after chef and catering expert, renowned for her unique culinary creations and exceptional service.
Her culinary journey has taken her to many places, from catering for movie sets to serving food at high-end government affairs, and even the Los Angeles Dodgers. She has also had the honor of cooking for the military, including serving meals to our brave men and women in uniform.
As a testament to her success, Bridgette has been featured in Forbes Magazine and has received numerous accolades for her outstanding work in the culinary industry. She continues to be a trailblazer, inspiring young chefs and entrepreneurs to follow their dreams and achieve success in their chosen fields.
